Overview

The Council of ACT Education Associations (COACTEA) was formed in 1997 and currently comprises 32 member associations representing approximately 4000 teachers and educators. Member associations are listed on the back panel. COACTEA encourages all associations involved in the field of education to become a member.

COACTEA is a member of the Australian Professional Teachers Association (APTA).

What we do:

  • Lobbies on behalf of all professional associations,
  • Feeds members' issues and concerns to the Australian Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations,
  • Distributes a quarterly newsletter which advertises events of member associations,
  • Organises speakers and workshops on topics of interest to all members, and
  • Encourages teachers who are members of participating subject associations to attend professional development activities organised by the council.
