The Australian Council for Leaders (ACEL) is the major professional association for educational leaders and our views are sought and respected by government and policy makers. ACEL draws its membership from all sectors of education in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the rest of the world.

Aims/Objectives

  • To promote and maintain a regional profile of professional excellence, pride and service in the study and practice of educational leadership and the development of high standards in its study at all levels and in the preparation of educational leaders through formal qualifications, professional development and exchange of ideas.
  • To establish, maintain and promote close links among those educators interested in the improvement of both the study and practice of educational leadership at all levels within the ACT and surrounding region.
  • To promote and facilitate conferences, workshops, lectures and other appropriate professional development activities for educational leaders within the ACT and surrounding region.
  • To promote and facilitate the dissemination of materials related to both research and practice in educational leadership.
  • To observe the national code of ethics for educational leaders maintained by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders Incorporated.
