Australian Council for Educational Leadership (ACEL)
Description
The Australian Council for Leaders (ACEL) is the major professional association
for educational leaders and our views are sought and respected by government
and policy makers. ACEL draws its membership from all sectors of education
in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the rest of the world.
Aims/Objectives
- To promote and maintain a regional profile of professional excellence,
pride and service in the study and practice of educational leadership
and the development of high standards in its study at all levels and
in the preparation of educational leaders through formal qualifications,
professional development and exchange of ideas.
- To establish, maintain and promote close links among those educators
interested in the improvement of both the study and practice of educational
leadership at all levels within the ACT and surrounding region.
- To promote and facilitate conferences, workshops, lectures and other
appropriate professional development activities for educational leaders
within the ACT and surrounding region.
- To promote and facilitate the dissemination of materials related to
both research and practice in educational leadership.
- To observe the national code of ethics for educational leaders maintained
by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders Incorporated.
- To develop, publish and implement policies relevant to educational
leaders in the ACT and surrounding region.
Activities
- ACEL is a leader in professional development and offers the opportunity
to participate in leadership programs, topical seminars and workshops
hosted at the national, local affiliate and association level. Membership
of ACEL provides leaders with an extraordinary array of benefits, including
support from ACEL's international partner, the Association of Supervision
and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
