A body committed to advocating on behalf of people with special education needs to ensure provision of and access to quality education services and providing a range of quality services to members and the wider community

Aims/Objectives

Activities

  • Provides a forum for National, State and local communication about special education
  • Promotes unity between professionals working with people with special education needs
  • Encourages research into appropriate quality support for people with special education needs
  • Acts as an informed responsible voice on the teaching and learning of people with special education needs
  • Seeks representation on policy-making bodies
  • Promotes appropriate training for those involved in providing special education support
  • Produces and circulates periodicals and journals throughout Australia and New Zealand
  • Assists parents in supporting their children with special education needs
  • Encourages governments to allocate appropriate resources to the education of people with special education needs
  • Promotes among decision-makers in the community an awareness of the needs and issues of concern to people with special education needs
